Solar Panel PVSTOP

Revolutionizing Solar Panel Safety with our Innovative Light Blocking Technology

Description

With the rapid expansion of solar PV installations across India – DC-side fire safety has become a critical and often overlooked aspect of system design and emergency response.

Solar PV systems inherently operate at high DC voltages (up to 1000V / 1500V DC).

During fault conditions such as short circuits or fire incidents, panels continue to generate power as long as they are exposed to light. This results in continuous DC arcing, which is significantly more hazardous than AC due to its non-zero crossing nature.

In such scenarios –

  • The system remains energized even after AC isolation.
  • First responders face severe electrocution risks.
  • Conventional firefighting methods including powder, CO2 extinguishers do not de-energize the DC source as these extinguishers are not designed to de-energized the solar panels and also not tested for DC Fire.

This creates a major safety gap, limiting effective firefighting intervention and increasing the risk of asset loss and human injury.

CEA 2026 Guidelines on DC Fire Safety

Other equipment.- Requirements for other equipment such as cables, pipes, control and protection equipment, communication system, metering devices, earthing system, lightning arrestor, alternating current and direct current fire prevention and protection system shall be as per relevant regulations notified by Authority.

CAUTION

ASKA PVSTOP is designed for DC photovoltaic (PV) circuits only. It is not designed, tested, or approved for use on AC circuits or AC electrical equipment. Use on AC systems may result in equipment damage, malfunction, or unsafe operating conditions.

KEY TECHNICAL FEATURES

Rapid formation of an opaque insulating polymer layer over PV modules

Effectively blocks sunlight, thereby interrupting DC generation at source

Enables safe de-energization immediately

Tested & validated by NISE (National Institute of Solar Energy) (Govt. of India)
